Hi, I'm Vicki. I am originally from North Carolina, and moved to Atlanta after high school. High School was where I discovered my passion for nursing while participating in a work study program that allowed me to work as a nurses aide in a nursing home for adults. I have always loved art and science, specifically nursing and was very torn between the two as to what would be my major in college: So...I did both! I graduated in 2000 with my BA in Studio Arts with a concentration in drawing and painting from Georgia State University. After working in custom furniture design for Pottery Barn Kids, exactly one year later, I returned to GSU, and earned my Bachelor of Science with a major in Nursing in 2005. I find that my creative side helps me in nursing! I knew that I would practice in the area of Women's health before I even began earning my nursing degree;  because by this time I had my beautiful daughter.  I remember feeling how lacking the hospital experience was in the kind, and amount of care that they could give to the family in the postpartum period. Especially brand new parents that may have many needs and questions, not to mention how exhausting it can be. However as we all know, in the hospital there just is never enough time!  I began working in Labor and Delivery and have always wanted to make a difference! It didn't take me long to realize that I'd have more of an opportunity to do that in Mother Baby nursing, and be able to have more time with the families I cared for. I have worked as a Postpartum Mother Baby RN in two major teaching hospitals in Atlanta, and have 10 years experience caring for families from all over the world which has been amazing. I've also worked during that time being cross trained, as a Newborn Admission RN in the newborn nursery. Following my hospital career in 2014, with the desire to learn and grow as a Nurse,  I became an Advice Nurse for Kaiser Permanente answering calls in Women's Health and Pediatrics, Adult Medicine and Psychiatry. I loved the teaching aspect of this job, however I missed caring for patients at bedside! With Nurse and Nurture, I feel I have found the perfect opportunity to practice nursing the way I have wanted  all along, so I look forward to helping in all the ways each family needs to have a restful , and peaceful beginning with your new little one!
